How an Internal Developer Platform Connects CI/CD and Compliance
CI/CD pipelines automate how code is built and deployed. An internal developer platform decides which pipelines teams use and what each one must include. Instead of every team writing its own deployment scripts and approval steps, teams start from an approved template and get a pipeline with required reviews, security checks and infrastructure guardrails already in place.

What is an internal developer platform?
An internal developer platform (IDP) is a self-service layer of tools, templates and automated workflows that lets developers build, test and deploy applications through a standard, approved path, without filing tickets for infrastructure.
How does an internal developer platform relate to CI/CD?
CI/CD pipelines are one part of an IDP. The platform standardizes which pipelines teams use and what they must include, such as reviews, security checks and deployment approvals, and connects them to source control and infrastructure.
Do we have to replace our existing CI/CD tools?
No. DevOpser's internal developer platform integrates with your existing source control and CI/CD pipelines and uses your custom Terraform modules.
Is an IDP the same as a developer portal like Backstage?
Not quite. A developer portal such as Backstage is the interface developers use to find services and start new projects. The internal developer platform is the automation behind it: pipelines, infrastructure and policies. DevOpser's demo applications include a Backstage internal developer platform.
Who owns the platform you build?
You receive a non-exclusive license to the DevOpser Orchestrator, full ownership of your customizations, and a full source code hand-off with training.
